My next blog post and topic is going to be on speaker that I
am going to discuss is Rick Guidotti: From Stigma to supermodel. In this blog
post Rick Guidotti discusses how he is photography from New York City and how
he worked for famous magazine companies.
The speaker inspired audience-showing photos and discussing how beauty
is everywhere not just in the magazines with models. He showed how kids with
albinism and other conditions are beautiful. He helped kids overcome adversity
by photographing them and making them feel good about their selves. He changed kids lives by letting them tell
their story and showing them how beautiful they really are. He built trust by
making kids feel good about them selves. Rick made kids feel comfortable around
him and he let them know that not everyone is judging them by there appearance.
By doing that the word started getting out and a lot of parents wanted Rick to
come and take photographs of their children.
It is important to let kids know that they are beautiful and they should
not be judged based on how they look; they should be accepted for who they are.
Rick showed knowledge by showing photographs and having a story for each
photograph he showed. I really find it inspiring that he worked with these kids
and letting them know that they are just as beautiful as the average person. I
also loved the fact that he spent a lot of time in Africa. One of the special
events that Rick Guidotti was apart of was invited to speak to a lot of kids in
San Antonio Texas. When he entered the room he was surrounded by laughter and
kids who had all kinds of different things that was wrong with him. Rick was
also invited to work on an exhibition.http://www.ted.com/talks/rick_guidotti_from_stigma_to_supermodel.html

Time Managment
This week blog post that I will discuss is “Time
Management”. Last week post was about
“How to Manage a Project” which in that aspect I talked about making sure that
you have everything you need. This week is based on making sure that you have
enough time to finish your project. Time management is very important when in
the entertainment industry. It is important that you use time management when
creating projects; it allows you to finish projects on time and not be late. I
am going to discuss some ways on how to use time management to make your
project successful.
http://www.business2community.com/product-management/time-management-in-project-management-0134426
First allow yourself to have enough time to finish your
project. It is one thing; when you have everything you need but if you do not
make sure that you allow yourself enough time to get what you need done then
that is a problem. Time management is an
important part when managing a project. If you do not give the project enough
time, then your project can seem rushed and will not turn out good.
http://www.mindtools.com/pages/article/newPPM_01.htm
Second, plan to finish your important tasks that you know
will take up majority of your time first. These are the tasks that you know you
have to finish first, because these tasks make your project successful. When
planning make sure you give yourself an extra day or two than your estimated
time that you will finish. Giving yourself an extra day, is preparing you for
the worst. Meaning, if something came up on the estimated date that you was
suppose to finish, you have an extra day to get the task finish because
something went wrong. After you plan time for your important tasks first, then
plan time to finish the tasks that is not going to take up much of your time.
The principal of giving you an extra day still applies. It applies because once
again you never know what is going to happen, and you want to prepare for the
worst.
In conclusion, Time management is very important. It is one
thing to manage a project, but it is another thing to make sure you have enough
time to complete the project.

How to Manage a Project
For this blog, I will be discussing “ How to Manage a
Project”. When it comes to managing a
project, it is very important because if you do not manage your project
correctly, your project can fail. I am going to list and discuss some important
steps, when it comes to managing a project.
First it is important to figure out the goals of the
project. You can figure this out; by writing down all the things that you need
to do to make the project successful. It is important to things that you need
first, instead of jumping right into a project and it is not planned out.
Second, figure out how you are going to get the things that
you need to make the project successful. Figure out if you have the equipment
or if you are going to need investors to help you. If you do need investors,
starting looking as soon as possible and do not wait to the last minute. http://management.about.com/od/projectmanagement/ht/ProjMgtSteps.htm
Third, write out a time line of everything you would need
and the date and time you would need it by.
It makes it easier when you write everything down instead of just
guessing, or trying to just remember everything. As well once you write out a
timeline make sure that you follow by it and make more than one copy in case
you misplace a copy.
Make sure you have an original plan, as well as a back of
plan. It is not promised that your first plan is going to work out, that’s why
it is important to have a back up plan in case it doesn’t work out. It is
always good to plan for the worst, you never know what is going to happen, and
you would be prepared. http://www.pm4girls.elizabeth-harrin.com/
Fifth, start getting your team together and assigning roles.
Let each person know what they are going to be doing, and give them a schedule
of the timeline. Once roles are assigned have weekly meetings to make sure that
everyone is on task. Make sure that you constantly have communication with your
team.
Sixth, make sure you write everything down from what is
done, and what still needs to be done. This is important, because you can keep
track of everything and will not wonder if something got done or not. It is
also important to document everything, because if you forgot something you can
add it.
Last, make sure to stay in touch with everybody like the
investors (if you have any) and your team members. This is important, because you
want to know how everyone is doing and their status on what they were assigned
to.

Presenting Your Photographs
For this week blog I will discuss topics from the article
“Presenting Your Photographs by Nancy Hill. This Blog will be dedicated to
photography lovers who are trying to get their photography shown to
professionals or even just to friends and family. First Hill goes to talk about
knowing your audience. It is important to know the type of audience that you
are trying to reach whether there family, friends, publication, or even for
galleries.
When it comes to people taking photography up as just an
interest, then that’s when you should show your work to family and friends
and not if you are trying to go professional. If your audience were family
and friends then you would want to present your photos in a frame or a photo
folder because they are going to want to hang your photos around the
house. When it comes to wanting to have
a career in photography, your audience will be different. You would present
your work for publication or galleries.
When your audience is
professional, then you would present your work different. You would want to
find out how whoever you’re submitting your work to and how they would want you to submit
it. When you are submitting your work to
publication, they can want you to submit it via email, CD’s, and even tear
sheets. Galleries will want you to have a professional portfolio. If you want
the gallery to take you serious, than always make sure you take a professional
portfolio.
The next topic Nancy hill talks about is how your photographs
will be viewed whether it’s for albums, scrapbooks, or walls. When your photos
are being reviewed for albums do not have more than one theme. When you stick to
one theme, then you appear to know your subject and not seem to be all over the
place with different photographs that does not match your theme. When it comes
to scrapbooks, make sure you have a concept, and that your photo stands out and
not the paper or even the font you choose to use. When putting your photographs
on walls, make sure you know the size of your photograph when putting it on a
frame. When it comes to matting your photographs, choose the pre cut matts. That
way you won’t have to spend to much or worry about if you mess the matts up
while cutting them.http://www.photography.com/articles/featured/presenting-your-photographs/ http://www.photography.com/articles/basic-concepts/portfolios-101/

Being Successful in the Entertainment Industry
Ever since I was a little girl I always wanted to be in the
Entertainment Industry. I went through all the stages from wanting to be a
singer, dancer, model, and actress. Finally when I grew older I found a passion
for photography, video, and helping people jump-start their career. That is
when I decided it was best to be in the Entertainment business behind the
scenes. I must say that I absolutely love creating work that people can love
and enjoy.
With that being said, I wanted to do all these things and create
work and show them to people but I had poor work ethics. I had to change my
work ethics if I wanted or want to be successful in this industry. I must say
that one way that I did that was going to Full Sail University on campus when I
went for my Bachelor’s degree in Digital Arts and Design. I had the best
experience going there because the classes were designed like how you are
actually going to work in the industry. You did not have time to be lazy. You
constantly had a project due and were always in class. That helped me a lot.
After I graduated and really got into the real world I
started applying the things that they taught us in school and using them. One
of the things that you are going to need to be successful in the Entertainment
Industry is to stay up to date with what’s going on in the industry with Online
Marketing. Online presence is one of the
important things to be successful in the Entertainment Industry. Online
Marketing is very important in the Entertainment Business. That is how you are
going to get your name and work out there for people to see. I have a Facebook,
twitter, instragram, and LinkedIn account. I stay up to date with social media
and what’s new so I can keep marketing myself. I have provided two links to look at on how to be successful in the Entertainment Industry http://entertainment-business.blogspot.com/2011/04/essential-element-for-success-in.htmlhttp://orlandobands.wordpress.com/2012/08/21/entertainment-business-and-successful-entrepreneurship/
